Moving to the Karoo has made me realise the joy there is to be found in a more simple lifesyle.<\/em> <\/strong><\/p>\n

\"tpotg-simple-life-01\"A life more simple
\nIs what I used to crave,
\nIf I distanced life’s stresses
\nPerhaps I\u2019d distance the grave.
\nGetting closer to nature,
\nLess controlled by man-made;
\nThe colour of my life
\nNeeded a much softer shade.
\nI needed to learn more
\nAbout what\u2019s important to me
\nAnd from life’s false pretensions
\nI had to break free.<\/p>\n

So the move was made,
\nThe bullet was bitten,
\nAnd by the much simpler life
\nI’ve truly been smitten.
\nA shift in my focus,
\nOn what gets my attention,
\nMy old corporate days
\nNow don’t get a mention.
\nAnd as I make friends with nature,
\nIn her various disguises,
\nI’ve discovered another world,
\nA world full of surprises.<\/p>\n

Now I can just sit on my stoep,
\nEngaged in idle chatter,
\nNot worrying about the time
\nBecause time doesn\u2019t matter.
\nListening to the birds singing,
\nQuietly observing them drink,
\nSeeing clouds kiss the mountains,
\nWatching their shadows shrink,
\nAwed by the Karoo landscape
\nBy its harsh rugged charm,
\nAs the buck roam freely
\nAcross our neighbour\u2019s farm,<\/p>\n

And as the day ends
\nAnd dusk slowly nears,
\nThe kaleidoscope of colours
\nAs the sun disappears;
\nThen that magical joy
\nOf a star filled sky;
\nThat\u2019s the life more simple,
\nWhy not give it a try?<\/p>\n
