I use this South African word a lot – so just in case you don’t know what it means….<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

It\u2019s like a porch, or veranda,
\nOr even a large balcony too,
\nA place to sit outside,
\nMaybe take in the view.
\nIt could be in town,
\nPossibly out on a farm
\nEither way stoep sitting
\nHas its own special charm.<\/p>\n

It’s a place to chill out,
\nA place to contemplate,
\nTo drink coffee or tea,
\nTo ponder life\u2019s fate.
\nIt’s where you drink wine
\nWith friends who have gathered,
\nOr where you sit and snooze
\nWhen you just can\u2019t be bothered.<\/p>\n

Somewhere to quietly read a book,
\nWhen you\u2019re in the mood,
\nOr to savour a plate
\nOf your favourite food.
\nIt\u2019s where gossip is updated
\nAnd opinions expressed,
\nAnd sunsets are watched
\nAs the day\u2019s put to rest.<\/p>\n
