Some couples can never find interesting things to talk about, not us, we talk about the silence of the k’s…..<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

We were sitting around aimlessly talking last night,
\nThe second glass of wine was tasting so good,
\nJust chatting about the quirks of our language,
\nYou know, in the way that old couples should.<\/p>\n

Now we all know that the English language
\nIs such an incredibly hard language to learn,
\nBut last night, as we poured our third glass of wine,
\nWe had only one pressing concern.<\/p>\n

We asked ourselves why the k before an n
\nIs always kept silent, not usually heard.
\nAnd as we discussed this a conclusion was reached,
\nThe English language was simply absurd.<\/p>\n

On a silent night our silent knight,
\nSilently around the castle grounds walks.
\nAnd on silent nights they talk about our silent knight,
\nSaying he’s the knight who at night never talks.<\/p>\n

But then is it night-night, that we say to our kids,
\nAs off to bed they sleepily go?
\nOr is it knight-knight, or maybe night-knight?
\nIt\u2019s something we surely should know.<\/p>\n

Which takes us to need, or maybe it\u2019s knead?
\nDepends upon what you are doing;
\nBecause if you need to knead the dough my friend,
\nA career as a baker you should be pursuing.<\/p>\n

A knots not a knot if it\u2019s not tied right,
\nAs soon it will become undone.
\nBut now how do you know that it is not the right knot?
\nThis language game really is fun.<\/p>\n

And if you knew it was new, then you couldn\u2019t say
\nThat you knew it was old, that\u2019s a lie;
\nBut what then if you knew that the new knot was not new,
\nWhat a tangle we\u2019d have to untie.<\/p>\n

The knell sounds for Nell, she was still in her prime,
\nDiscovered a nit in her knitting and died.
\nBeen out shopping that day, bought new knickers for a nicker,
\nBut the knot in her new knickers won\u2019t now ever be tied.<\/p>\n

Now what about not knowing knowledge about a ledge?
\nNo, surely that be must be a useful thing to know,
\nAs armed with the knowledge that there was no ledge
\nOut of the window you just wouldn\u2019t go!<\/p>\n

We\u2019re thinking of starting a world-wide campaign,
\nThat the K should once again be spoken,
\nA knotty problem is it not, we know some will say no;
\nPerhaps another bottle of wine we should open!<\/p>\n
