The garden has so many visitors….how can you not talk to them?<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

My garden\u2019s a haven for visitors,
\nUncaged and always free to roam,
\nBringing me such beauty and colour,
\nI\u2019m so lucky when they share my home.<\/p>\n

I know they haven\u2019t come to see me,
\nThey come for the bounty that\u2019s here on hand,
\nI can forgive them, then, when they ignore me,
\nFor why they\u2019re here I do understand.<\/p>\n

Still I like to give them all greetings,
\nThe polite thing to do, don\u2019t you think?
\nAs I watch them busily feeding,
\nOr taking a bath, or having a drink.<\/p>\n

I have conversations with butterflies,
\nAnd daily I have long talks with bees,
\nAnd I chat away constantly with the birds,
\nWho chat back, perched up in their trees.<\/p>\n

And, naturally, I talk to my plants,
\nEncouraging them all to grow,
\nBecause of my plants my visitors visit,
\nAnd without them they\u2019d surely all go.<\/p>\n

So if you\u2019re passing by Stone Cottage,
\nSee an old man speaking to no one at all,
\nHe\u2019ll just be in conversation with his plants,
\nOr with the visitors who have come to call.<\/p>\n
