Is it a lawnmower or is it a bird…….?<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

In Bedford\u2019s quiet streets
\nCan often be heard
\nThe whirr, whirr, whirring
\nOf the lawnmower bird.
\nA solitary creature,
\nIt moves around on its own,
\nEating away
\nAt the grass that has grown,
\nEspecially after the rain
\nHas awakened tired roots
\nAnd fed them with nutrients
\nTo produce new green shoots.<\/p>\n

Never at night
\nWill you hear this bird stirring,
\nAs it rests in its shelter,
\nTired out from its whirring.
\nAnd not every day
\nDoes this strange bird appear,
\nAnd during the winter
\nThe sightings are rare.<\/p>\n

Its plumage favours green,
\nAlthough sometimes it\u2019s red,
\nAnd black ones are seen,
\nSo I\u2019ve heard it said.
\nSome leave a smell,
\nWhile others trail a cord,
\nUsually accompanied by a man
\nWho appears to be bored.<\/p>\n

So there you have it,
\nThere\u2019s no more to tell
\nAbout the lawnmower birds
\nThat in Bedford do dwell.<\/p>\n
